PURPOSE:To obtain a platable polyamide composition having a high specific gravity and a high strength, by mixing a metal powder with a metal oxide powder or a high-specific gravity glass powder and a polyamide resin at a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:A polyamide composition of a specific gravity >=2.8, comprising 70-90pts.wt. at least one member selected from among a metal powder, a metal oxide powder and a high-specific gravity glass powder, 30-10pts.wt. polyamide resin, 0-30pts.wt. fibrous reinforcement such as a glass fiber and 0-40pts.wt. inorganic filler per 100pts.wt. total composition. Examples of the inorganic fillers which can be used include metal powders such as atomized iron powder, reduced iron powder and sprayed copper powder. In order to prevent rusting of an iron powder when it is used under conditions of high temperature for a long time, it is coated with zinc or copper. It is also possible to surface-treat said metal powder, said metal oxide powder or said high-specific gravity glass powder to improve the affinity for the resin.
