PURPOSE:To ensure light and favorable feelings even at the time of manual paper feeding and obtain a low-noise light-operating paper-feeding system, by enabling a contact pressure between a detent gear and a detent lever to be changed in three stages, in a recorder comprising a mechanical detent. CONSTITUTION:While a recorder is in a stand-by state or in a printing operation state, a part C of a cam 16 catches a bent part of a leaf spring 14, and a tip beak part of a detent lever 12 is lightly pressed against a detent gear 11. Next, with a paper-feeding command supplied, the cam 16 is rotated until a part A thereof comes into contact with the bent part of the spring 14. In this case, the spring 14 exertes a self-returning force between a shaft 13 and a boss 15, thereby rotating the detent lever 12 to separate the lever 12 from the detent gear 11, whereby paper feeding is performed. After the paper feeding is finished, the cam 16 is rotated so that a part B thereof catches the bent part of the spring 14. The pert B of the cam 16 is the most protruding part of the cam profile, and strongly presses the spring 14, whereby the detent lever 12 is strongly pressed against the detent gear 11, and errors in the rotating quantity of the detent gear can be eliminated.
