PURPOSE:To reduce the number of members and the work for excess length disposal by adjusting the length of an optical fiber in an optical module to eliminate a need of the space for the excess length of the optical fiber on a package mounted on the optical module. CONSTITUTION:An optical module 1 is provided with a knob 8A provided with a vertical part 8Aa and a collar 8B which is coupled to the vertical part 8Aa and is provided with a notch 8Ba. This vertical part 8Aa is provided on the upper face of a casing 2 and is fitted into a long hole 9 having an arbitrary number of projections 10. An optical fiber 4 is close fitted to the notch part 8Ba of the collar 8B. When the knob 8A is operated to move the vertical part 8Aa along the long hole 9, the vertical part 8Aa is detained by projections of the long hole 9 and is stopped. The vertical part 8Aa is rotated at 90 deg. through the knob 8A to release detention between the vertical part 8Aa and projections 10, and then, an adjusting tool 8 easily passes positions of the projections and is moved forward. The length of the fiber 4 is adjusted in accordance with this movement, thereby eliminating a need of the excess length of the optical fiber on a package.
