PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition excellent in impact resistance, solvent resistance, appearance after molding, etc., by melt-kneading a composition comprising a polyphenylene ether resin, a polyamide and/or a polyester with a specified compound and a peroxide. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. composition comprising 1-99wt.% polyphenylene ether resin and 99-1wt.% polyamide and/or polyester (e.g., nylon 6.6) is mixed with 0.01-10wt.% at least one unsaturated compound having a functional group selected from among acid anhydride, COOH, OH, epoxy and amino groups (e.g., maleic anhydride) and 0.0001-5pts.wt. peroxide [e.g., 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-di(t- butylperoxy)hexane], and the resulting mixture is melt-kneaded at 200-350 deg.C.
