PURPOSE:To carry and load a metal plate without any damage and with proper alignment by retaining the metal plate fed out of a shear line in such a way that a slipping agent is deposited on a conveyor belt having many through-holes and the steel plate is attracted from the underside of the belt. CONSTITUTION:When the forward end of a metal strip is fed out to a belt 7a or the metal strip is at rest with a feed process interrupted, friction is generated between the metal strip and the belt 7a. A slipping agent preliminarily applied to the belt 7a, however, makes it possible to prevent almost all slip damages of a metal plate available from a shearing process. Also, if through- holes 7a and 7b are formed on the belt 7a and a suction force applies to the lower sides of the through-holes 7a and 7b immediately prior to shearing, the metal plate can be adsorbed on the surface of the belt 7a at the predetermined widthwise position thereof and in parallel with the advance direction thereof, and can be carried with said predetermined position kept unchanged. A shift to the succeeding work stage, therefore, can be done without any hindrance and smoothly.
