PURPOSE:To incorporate a water wall as a door into a building or the like and to impart an attractive scene by providing the water wall in a passage and also opening one part of the water wall corresponding to the passenger in case a person or an object passes through it. CONSTITUTION:When a passing material is not present within a passing material detection area 7, a passing material detection means 8 outputs a signal corresponding thereto to a valve controlling means 9 and an on-off valve 5 is set to opening. In this state, water is fed to respective intervals of a fountain pipe 1 via a water supply pipe 4 from a pressure water feed source 3 and falls through the nozzles 2 and a curtain-like water wall is formed in a range over the whole length of the fountain pipe 1. On the other hand, when the passing material is present within the area 7, the means 8 outputs a signal corresponding thereto to the valve controlling valve 9 and thereby the on-off valve 5 is closed and water is not fed to the prescribed interval L of the fountain pipe 1. Therefore the passing material can be passed through the opening part of the water wall without being wetted.
