PURPOSE:To facilitate the operation of a document processor by setting a mode where a blank code is automatically inserted when the line feed is carried out. CONSTITUTION:A mode setting means 3 decides whether or not a mode (blank insertion mode) is set to insert a blank code into the head of the next line when the line feed is carried out. When an instruction is received from a line feed instruction means 4 for line feed, a blank code insertion discriminating means 5 discriminates the presence or absence of the blank insertion mode. Thus an instruction is given to a blank code inserting means 7 for insertion of a blank code in a blank code insertion mode. Then the means 7 inserts a blank code into a document memory 1. While an indicated position changing means 6 shifts the position of an indication means 2 to the next line in response to the line feed and moves the position of the means 2 for each character with insertion of a blank code.
