PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of an editing job by performing the switch between the individual designation and the range designation in case an editing subject area is designated. CONSTITUTION:A control part 5 consists of an input control part 51, a window control part 52, a system control part 53, a print control part 54, a display control part 55, a document editing part 56, a system control part 57, and a file editing part 58. Then an input part 1, a display part 2, a memory part 3 and a print part 4 are connected to the part 5. Then part 56 includes a document editing part 561 and an area editing part 562. The part 561 displays the layout of the corresponding page of a document whose production and replacement are instructed by the part 58 within a window and then edits an area on said page. The part 562 displays the contents of an area whose production and replacement are newly instructed by the part 561 within a window and produces and edits data within said area.
