PURPOSE:To miniaturize the title apparatus and to keep the secret of printing content, by mounting a transfer sheet supply apparatus for transferring a transfer sheet having a width narrower than that of paper in the direction crossing the transfer direction of the paper. CONSTITUTION:When the max. printing width of paper 14 is set to W and the effective width of a transfer sheet is set to (w), a transfer sheet cassette 5 is arranged so as to be inclined by an angle theta given by sin theta=w/W with respect to a thermal head 4 and the axis of a platen 3. The thermal head 4 is operated in such a state that the paper 14 and the transfer sheet 6 are passed between the thermal head 4 and the platen 3 and the predetermined area of the transfer sheet 6 is locally heated to perform printing by one dot in the transfer direction of the paper 14. When the printing of one dot is finished, the paper 14 is transferred by one dot and the transfer sheet 6 is moved in the direction crossing the transfer direction of the paper 14 to set such a state that the printing of the next one dot is possible. The above-mentioned operation is repeated to apply desired printing to the entire surface of the paper 14. Therefore, it is impossible to read printing content on the transfer sheet and the secret of printing content can be kept.
