An instrument comprises means to fold end parts of first and second tubular over clamping surfaces (116,117) to form ring shaped flange portions for application of a bonding agent. Means are provided for admission of the bonding agent to the joint area through the instrument, including an applicator (112), and adaptor (114), and this flexible hose (113) which is passed through the instrument. Handles on inner (111) and outer parts (122) of the instrument may be gripped to allow relative movement of the parts to bring the clamping surfaces together.
