The device comprises an electrical circuit between the charged media and the machine part or ground. A resistor (2) is connected between the charged media (1) and a tunnel diode (3) with a capacitor (5) in parallel with the tunnel diode which is coupled to the machine part or ground by the coupling diode (4). - An external DC voltage is applied between the charged media (positive) and the junction between the tunnel and coupling diodes (negative). Initially, the current flowing through the tunnel diode increases with increasing voltage and then decreases with further voltage increase because the electrons cannot tunnel into the inhibited energy range above the valence band resulting in an apparent negative resistance and the complete discharge of the static charge. A van de Graaf generator may be used as the voltage source and the device entirely eliminates static electricity on techanical equipment and charged material.(1/1) |
