PURPOSE:To easily produce a metal wire without executing intermediate annealing treatment by continuously supplying and solidifying molten metal on a solidifying base body heated on the upper face and continuously shifted to one direction, and executing direct rolling as it is. CONSTITUTION:The solidifying base body 1 is rotated while heating the upper face thereof with a heating device 2 at the temp. more than the solidified temp. of the cast metal, and the molten metal 4 is continuously supplied on the upper face from a pouring nozzle 3. The supplied molten metal 4 is directly cooled with a water cooling device 5, to make cast billet 6 and peeled from the base body 1 by a knife 10, to make a hoop having the prescribed thickness or a wire 8 having the prescribed diameter by rolls for rolling mill and wourd into a coiler 9. By this method, the plastic working with about 95% sectional reduc tion ratio from the cast billet 6 without the intermediate annealing treatment and surface grinding can be executed.
