PURPOSE:To enhance the contrast of a color cathode-ray tube by contaminating the face glass with a neodymium oxide, and using as the green phosphor of the face glass, a mixture prepared by mixing a sulfide phosphor with a rare earth element phosphor in a given mixing ratio. CONSTITUTION:The face glass of a display cathode-ray tube is contaminated with 0.5-1.0wt% of neodymium oxide (Nd2O3) so as to make the face glass to have the characteristic of absorbing light with wavelengths of around 470-480, 510-530 and 570-585nm. As the green-color emitting phosphor, mixture prepared by mixing a rare earth element phosphor (such as Y2SiO3:Tb) having a linear emission dominant wavelength of 540-550nm, with a sulfide phosphor (such as ZnS:Cu, Au, Al) having large energy in the wavelength range of 550- 600nm in a ratio by weight of 0.5-2.0 (the rare earth system/the sulfide system) is used. As the result, a picture surface with high contrast and with a small decrease of the luminance can be obtained. |
