PURPOSE:To effectively use printing paper without wastefulness, by once retracting the printing paper inserted through the gap between a printing head and a platen before pressing said paper to the platen by a roller to wind the same around said platen. CONSTITUTION:When printing paper P is started in the state set to a pin tractor 3, a microprocessor H3 outputs an order signal to a stepping motor driving circuit H1 to rotate a stepping motor M and an upper pressure roller 2 is allowed to separate from a platen 1. The microprocessor H3 outputs an order signal to an LF motor driving circuit H2 to allow the paper P to advance toward the platen 1. Then, the paper P is allowed to advance by predetermined quantity by the detection signal from an edge sensor E and stopped. A cam C is revolved to return the roller 2 toward the platen 1 and the paper P is pressed to bring the leading end Pa thereof to procimity to the back surface 5a of a cutting knife 5. The paper P is retracted to again return the roller 2 toward the platen 1 and the paper 1 is pressed to the platen 1. Further, the printing paper P is allowed to advance and the leading end Pa thereof is allowed to coincide with the position of the blade tip 51 of the cutting knife 1. |
