The invention relates to a pivoting seat system for a motor vehicle, making it possible to avoid obstacles to pivoting such as the location of the transmission shaft, the handbrake, the seat belt attachments, the storage accessories and the like placed between the seats. It includes a means making it possible to offset the pivot axis 3 of the seat, as desired, towards the rear of this seat, and towards the left-hand side or the right-hand side of the said seat, as well as fixing means comprising multiple attachment points made in the fixed part 8 of the system and articulated and sliding lugs connecting the system to the attachment points of the original seat of the vehicle. The system according to the invention may be installed, particularly for orthopaedic purposes, in any model of motor vehicle, without any conversion of the vehicle; it may consequently be taken out of one model and remounted easily in any other model of motor vehicle. <IMAGE>
