PURPOSE:To prevent development of defect, such as cold shut crack, hot tear, in a continuously cast billet by arranging high frequency induction heating device near a brake ring of a tundish nozzle in horizontal type continuous casting apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A front nozzle 3 is fitted into outlet 10 of the mold 1 side for continuous casting in the tundish 2 in the horizontal type continuous casting apparatus and at the end thereof, a field nozzle 4 providing the high frequency induction heating coil 7, is fitted and further, at the end thereof, the mold 1 for continuous casting is fitted through the brake ring 5. Molten metal 9 in the tundish 2 is flowed in the mold 1 and cooled and the solidified shell 6 is formed and drawn and produced as the cast billet. In this case, by heating the brake ring 5 or near the ring with a coil 7 and the development of the solidified shell in the molten metal near the brake ring 5 at early time is prevented, and by developing the coil shut C.S. as imperfect welding part at boundary of the solidified shells 6A and 6B or the hot spot H.S. as thin thickness part, and at the cooling after that, the development of the cold shut crack or hot tear defect is prevented. |
