PURPOSE:To rapidly select and control a feed speed and to promote the simplification and miniaturization of a structure, by detecting the thickness of printing paper by the movement of a carriage adjusting and securing the interval between a printing head and the printing paper and adjusting and controlling the feed speed of the printing paper on the basis of the thickness data of the printing paper. CONSTITUTION:All the feedback pulses from the initial position of a carriage to the position where a positioning stepping motor 23 is stopped are counted by a microprocessor 30 and the absolute paper thickness recorded on a feedback pulse-paper thickness recording part 40b is read to judge the thickness of printing paper. The data from a paper thickness-carriage position recording part 40 deg. is read to detect the thickness of the printing paper arranged to a platen 5 and the carriage 2 is moved so as to obtain the optimum platen gap. The feed speed of the printing paper is determined by reading the optimum feed speed to the paper thickness recorded on a paper thickness-paper feed speed recording part 40d and a pulse signal is outputted to a stepping motor driving circuit 31 to control the rotation of a paper feed stepping motor 28, then the platen 5 is rotated at the speed optimum to the thickness of the printing paper. |
