PURPOSE:To vary a light distribution characteristic without attaching and detaching an adaptor, and to execute an illumination being suitable for an object to be observed, by providing a vibrating means for vibrating an emitting end part of an illuminating optical system. CONSTITUTION:An illuminating lens 11 is held in a through-hole 4 of a tip part 1 of an endoscope, and in the rear thereof, a light guide fiber 12 is placed. Also, to an emitting end part of the fiber 12, one end of a plate-like bimorph element 13 is fixed, the other end is fixed to the rear end of the tip part 1, and the tip of the light guide fiber 12 is supported so as to be movable in the vertical direction. According to this constitution, when a voltage is applied to the bimorph element 13 through a lead wire 14, the bimorph element 13 vibrates in the vertical direction and oscillates the fiber 12 in the vertical direction. Therefore, the light distribution characteristic can be varied without attaching and detaching an adaptor, and not only the center but also the peripheral part can be illuminated.
