PURPOSE:To output large-size characters also with high quality by extracting the vertex data of a polygonal character or graphic form corresponding to an input index code and deciding a partial section to be interpolated at its curve based on information corresponding to an angle formed by two adjacent sides constituting a polygon and executing curve interpolation. CONSTITUTION:A contour of a character is constituted of linear parts and curved parts and two adjacent sides of each curved part should be set to a value close to 180 deg. in order to express the contour of the character with high quality by a polygon. A section continuing values close to 180 deg. formed by two adjacent sides of the polygon is regarded as a curve interpolating section by utilizing said property to execute curve interpolation. Consequently, a character of any size can be smoothly interpolated in its curved sections, so that characters of high quality can be generated.
