PURPOSE:To manufacture an amorphous-alloy block, by filling a cylindrical vessel in which a core material is placed with a powder of amorphous alloy so as to form a formed billet and then by subjecting this billet to plastic working by an extruding method, etc. CONSTITUTION:A metallic core material 14 is fixed in the center of a metallic cylindrical vessel 10, and the end 16 of the vessel 10 is worked so that it has a angle of 90 deg. as shown in a figure. After the space between the vessel 10 and the core material 14 is filled with a flaky powder 18 of an amorphous alloy, such as Fe78B13Si9, having 32-149mum grain size, the inside of the vessel 10 is reduced to vacuum and filled with an inert gaseous Ar, etc., and a metallic cap 20 is bonded with a ceramics-type adhesive to form a formed billet 22. A graphite lubricant is applied to the above billet 22, and this billet 22 is heated to about 400 deg.C and put into a die for extruding to undergo extrusion forming at >=70kg/mm<2> compressive stress at <=50% reduction in area, so that amorphous block 28 in which a coating layer 26 of the amorphous alloy is formed on the surface of the core material 14 can be manufactured.
