PURPOSE:To improve the operability by providing each working program with a password and read/write information storage means and providing a collation processing means and a read/write possibility judging processing means. CONSTITUTION:A numerical controller consists of a key input means 1, an NC working program storage means 2, a program read/write password information storage means 5, a display and editing buffer means 4, a password collating means 6, and a read/write possibility judging means 7. A program number is designated and read/write information and a password to be set are inputted by the key input means 2, and the password of the designated program is taken out from the storage means 5 and is compared with the inputted password. Only when they coincide with each other, read/write information is rewritten. Read/write lock is decided by read/write information in said storage means 5 provided in each program and is executed.
