<p>The device incorporates a Sagnac interferometer which includes phase modulation means (18, 19) in its optical loop, making it possible to modulate the phase difference between the two light waves propagating in opposite directions through it. Electronic means (32, 33) process the signal from the photodetector (14) receiving the beating of the two waves. The device is noteworthy in that it includes amplitude modulation means (70) acting on the power emitted from the light source (12) and in that the electronic processing means include a synchronous demodulator (32) operating at the low beat frequency between the amplitude and phase modulations and not at the very high frequency of the phase modulation itself. <IMAGE></p> |
