The device comprises a serial input interface circuit (100) suitable for receiving framed digital signals comprising the parameters of the pattern associated with a segment of analog signal, a processor (110) converting the parameters with the format associated with the input bit rate, into parameters with the format associated with the output bit rate, by calling upon memories (120, 130), dictionary conversion table or dictionary memory, and an output interface circuit (140) which transmits the digital frame resulting from the conversion and matched to the output bit rate. Application, in particular, to transmission systems using voice coders with different bit rates, but using the same pattern for the speech signal to be transmitted.
