Electrocoating method of producing a metallic mirror consists of grinding and polishing a metal mould of opposite shape to that of the final mirror, locating the mould in an electrolytic bath as cathode to produce a thin layer of Sn or other low melting metal followed by a layer of the light reflecting metal, reinforcing the mirror layer and heating to melt the Sn and remove the mirror. USE/ADVANTAGE - For producing solar energy panels. Avoids the use of mechanical and machining methods.
