It is recommended that, for positioning in the vertical plane of a lifting end which projects from a lateral crane unit and which works with various loads, that a load manipulator is used involving, amongst other things, an extending boom (10) with a forward section and a rear section. Between these, a sling unit (20) is deployed on the boom and at the forward section's outer end a load deck (30) is also deployed.
