A dishwasher connectable to a water supply comprises a housing 14, a rack 15 rotatably mounted within the housing, and a spray system 16 for directing jets of water in the direction of the rack to impart rotational movement thereto, the spray system 16 comprising a nozzle 54, for emitting a collimated stream of water in direction 55a for initiating rack rotation and adjustable sprayer 86, 88, 88a for spraying articles to be cleaned and sustaining rotation of the rack. The flow of water between nozzle 54 and sprayer 86, 88, 88a may be regulated by a valve (110, Figs. 4-6) actuated by button 116. An air-break may be provided in the water supply line to the dishwasher. A device 17 for closing the water supplied to the spray system with detergent may also be provided. <IMAGE> |
