PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of image quality by applying a size effect inhibitor composed of a solution having a higher pH value than an ordinary ink to the surface of recording paper and then the ordinary ink to a part where the inhibitor is applied to form an image. CONSTITUTION:A charge control-type ink jet device is modified to a device equipped with two heads 2, one for size effect inhibitor and the other for ink. Then the size effect inhibitor is discharged in the form of droplets from an ink jet head 2 on a scan direction side, and the ink droplets 11 are allowed to adhere to a position where the inhibitor 12 settles on recording paper 13. In this case, time required until the ink droplets 11 adhere after the settlement of the size effect inhibitor droplets 12 by adjustment of the moving speed of a carriage in a scan direction and the distance between two ink jet heads 2, 6. Subsequently, the liquid having a high pH value permeates at a position where ink sticks to the paper 13 before the adhesion of ink to the paper, thus accelerating the permeation of the ink 11 into the paper 13. |
