PURPOSE:To obtain a high removal effect with the kind of steel with which descaling is difficult in a descaling method using spraying of pressure water and mechanical brushes by treating the surface of the steel sheet which is quickly cooled by the sprayed pressure water by means of the above-described brushes. CONSTITUTION:High pressure water is sprayed to a steel sheet 1 under transfer in a direction A along a rolling line from the nozzles 10 of headers 7 provided above and below said sheet, whereby the surface of the sheet 1 is cooled quickly and the formation of scale is accelerated. The scale formed while the steel sheet is hot is thus converted to the scale having high removability. The scale is then mechanically broken and stripped by mechanical brushes 8, 8 which are driven to rotate in a direction B. Headers 9, 9 spray the pressure water further to the surface of the steel plate thereby scattering the scale which is stripped and is afloat on the surface of the steel sheet. |
