The invention specifies an electrostatic powder coating system which has a chamber in which the material to be coated is coated during the electrostatic powder coating process. The filter device for recovering the powder from the powder-air mixture in the chamber in this case comprises an air receiver, in which a vacuum prevails, and one or more revolving, endless filter belts, the filter device partially or completely extending over the wall surfaces of the chamber. With this filter device the powder is continuously and constantly filtered out of the powder-air mixture and then transported with the aid of the filter belt to one or more powder-collecting containers. With the aid of an electrostatic blow-off device the powder remaining stuck on the outside of the filter belt is blown into the powder-collecting container, the powder beforehand passing through a screening device. The filter device may be subdivided into a plurality of filter subunits which are, for example, assigned to the side-wall surfaces, the bottom surface and/or the ceiling surface and/or the rear wall. The blow-off device is arranged in a vacuum-free zone.
