<p>An image processing apparatus which generates an after-image effect uses a first memory (12) in which one field of a digital composite video signal selected from every 4 fields is stored, successively. A second memory (13) is used, wherein one field of the digital composite video signal, which is the same as any one field of the field group stored in the first memory (12), is stored, successively. The field output from the first memory (12) and the field output from the second memory (13) are combined together. An image processing method includes the steps of: dividing a picture into a plurality of regions, writing image data of each point of the plurality of regions into each corresponding memory locations of a memory (25) only during periods selected, for each of the plurality of regions, from periods of the cycle of four fields. Another method is characterized by writing image data of each point in at least one of the plurality of regions into each memory location of the memory (25) only during the period of one field selected from periods of successive n-fields (n is a natural number equal to or greater than 2).</p> |
