<p>By providing an electrical appliance, such as a hand tool, with a separate battery unit, the capacity of such a battery unit can be substantially enlarged in comparison with appliances wherein the battery has been located in the housing of the appliance. By using a voltage of an intermediate level, i.e., about a magnitude of about 50 V, currents are reduced so that a relatively thin conductor between the appliance and the battery unit will be sufficient. Consequently this conductor does not impede the user of the electrical appliance. Further - in comparison with the mains voltage - the requirements for and consequently the thickness of the insulation is considerably less. Further a mains supply unit is provided which can both be used for loading the battery unit and for supplying electrical energy to the appliance.</p> |
