<p>A computerized clearance system for multistorey car parks and parking lots comprises an entry (2), provided with a device which records the time of arrival of a vehicle, said device consisting of a video camera (10), in particular a CCD camera, which photographs the licence number of the entering vehicle, and a character-reading device (11) which stores in a computer (8), the said licence number together with the time of arrival, an automatic cashier (7) which calculates and displays the time of entry with the time of settlement of the parking fee and assigns a code, after payment of the displayed fee, by means of which the barrier (6) at the exit (3) can be opened for a predetermined time-interval, for example 10 minutes. The automatic cashier (7) is provided with a keyboard (9) by means of which the licence number can be entered and which co-operates with the computer (8) in such a way that when a licence number is entered in the computer (8) the parking fee due is calculated and displayed, and after payment of the fee the corresponding licence number is recorded as being freed. Said cashier (7) is also provided with an exit (3) which can be closed by a barrier (6) and opened by an arrangement which opens the barrier (6), consisting of a video camera (12), in particular a CCD camera, which photographs the licence number of the outgoing vehicle, and a character-reading device (13) which compares the licence number of the outgoing vehicle with the freed licence numbers stored, and opens the barrier (6) when these numbers are in agreement.</p> |
