摘要 After starting, internal combustion engines pass through a so-called >>warm-up phase<<, in which the desired operating values are not attained or only partially attained. The internal combustion engine as motor vehicle drive is moreover operated in a large load and speed range and in designing the cooling account is generally taken only of the extreme value (full load). The internal combustion engine is therefore over-cooled in the partial load range. A decisive improvement is achieved in that in at least one part of the walls defining the combustion chamber, heat is dissipated to the material surrounding the walls by way of thermal bridges provided between the walls and the material surrounding them, which bridges, during the warm-up phase and in partial load operation of the internal combustion engine are at least partially interrupted by the formation of air gaps (6, 7) in order to increase the temperature. <IMAGE>
