PURPOSE:To enable high speed recording by providing a recording part of a heating means to give thermal energy to a thermal transfer recording medium installed along a transport path for the thermal transfer recording media and a means to apply light energy to the transfer recording medium. CONSTITUTION:When a roller 6 is rotated, one sheet of recording paper 11 is fed from a cassette 12, and the tip of the recording paper 11 is detected by a registration sensor, a transfer roller 10 is actuated at a prearranged timing to carry a transfer recording medium 1. At the same time, each heat generating element 2a of a thermal head 2 is energized in response to an image signal. In addition, while the thermal head 2 is energized, at least, a fluorescent lamp 3 is turned on. That is, heat from the thermal head 2 is applied to a recording layer 1a after being conducted through a support 1b, and light from the fluorescent lamp 3 is directly given to the recording layer 1a. Consequently, transfer images are sequentially formed in accordance with image signals per single line in the transfer recording medium 1 to be transferred. This light projection from the fluorescent lamp allows a rapid reaction of the transfer recording layer and at the same time, a quick acceleration of hardening thereof. |
