摘要 PURPOSE:To improve printing quality by counting the number of ON dots of entered printing data based on a predetermined number of lines as a single unit per each heat generating element group, and controlling the current calorific value of said heat generating element group based on the past count result of a single or more units of lines and temperature information of a thermal head. CONSTITUTION:A history control circuit 40 counts the number of ON dots of entered printing data which commands the ON/OFF operation of each heat generating element per heat generating group, i.e. the number of ON dots per unit recording area, every time a strobe signal STB 1-4 is transmitted. In addition, the history control circuit 40 works to control the current calorific value of said heat generating element group based on the past count result of a single or more units of lines (history information) and temperature information provided by a thermister of a thermal head 1. This history information correctly reflects the transient properties of temperature of the heat generating elements themselves without causing any time delay. Thus printing quality can be improved even when high-speed printing is performed.
