PURPOSE:To facilitate easy generation of the titled hologram with a high diffraction efficiency by forming linear diffraction grating at unequal intervals so that each grating direction goes to orthogonal, on both faces of a plate consisting of a light transmissive material. CONSTITUTION:An optical scanning hologram 10 is formed by a light transmissive material, and on two opposed surfaces, linear diffraction gratings of unequal intervals are formed so that each grating direction goes to orthogonal. This optical scanning hologram 10 is rotated around a suitable axis vertical to the surface on which the linear diffraction gratings are formed at unequal intervals, and a light beam from a light source fixed in a space is radiated as a suitable divergent light, by which a diffracted light whose scanning beam diameter is small, for executing a linear scan is obtained. In such a way, the generation is facilitated, and also, a high diffraction efficiency is obtained.
