The guidance of lances, samplers, measuring and monitoring members as well as reaction media and the like in and/or out through the orifice in the wall of a container presents great difficulties especially when thermal reactions take place at high temperatures and/or at high overpressures or underpressures in the container. Furthermore, there is the risk that, in this case, either dust-laden and/or toxic reaction gases will escape outwards into the atmosphere or else, in a reaction container working under underpressure, air will pass into the container and have an adverse effect on the course of the reaction in it. According to the invention, however, these disadvantages and difficulties are eliminated by connecting to the orifice (3) in the wall of the container (2) or of the gas-outlet pipe (1) a pipe connection (7) which is provided in the upper region with at least one shut-off member (8) and which is connected laterally to feed and discharge lines (13, 14, 18, 20) for gaseous media. <IMAGE>
