PURPOSE:To simplify and facilitate production by providing a confirmation region interspersed with magnetic powder to the desired part in a magnetic recording region. CONSTITUTION:This recording medium has the confirmation region interspersed with the magnetic powder in the desired part within the magnetic recording region. Namely, a magnetic 2 is formed by coating a magnetic coating compd. dispersed with a small amt. of the soft magnetic powder 3 on a base material 11 and the entire part of a magnetic card is coated with a protective layer 4. The data encoding part of the magnetic layer 2 is divided to a confirmation part (a) for detecting the position of the soft magnetic powder 3, a confirmation data part (b) where the detection data of the confirmation part (a) is recorded and a data recording region (c). Since the confirmation region is formed within the magnetic recording region in such a manner, the construction is simplified and the simultaneous formation of the confirmation region by a stage for forming the magnetic recording region is enabled to facilitate the production.
