Valve top part, especially for water fittings, which consists essentially of just two parts rotatable relative to one another, a head piece and a spindle. By switching a base disc interacting with a control disc between two positions rotated through 90@ relative to one another, it is possible in a simple manner to convert a valve top part with a clockwise closing action into one with an anticlockwise closing action. For the precise maintenance of the two stop positions of the spindle in the head piece, a sealed grease chamber which does not come into contact with the water flowing through is formed in the stop region.
