Weir for adjusting the level of liquid in solid-bowl centrifuge drums of worm centrifuges

The solid-bowl centrifuge drum 1 is equipped with a weir 3 which is formed by two weir plates 5, 6 which are arranged at a distance from one another. The weir plate 5 which is directed towards the interior 2 of the drum has a larger internal diameter than the weir plate 6 which is directed towards the skimming chamber 4. Between the weir plates 5, 6 there is a discharge channel 7 which can be closed by an axially movable slide 8. When the discharge channel 7 is closed, the fluid flowing to the skimming chamber 4 must pass the weir plate 6 with the smaller internal diameter. If, in contrast, the discharge channel 7 is open, the fluid can flow via the weir plate 5 with the larger internal diameter and the discharge channel 7 into the skimming chamber 4. The actuation of the slide 8 is effected by feeding a control medium into the control chambers 9 and 10. As a result, it is possible in a simple way to vary the liquid level in the interior 2 of the drum in accordance with the diameters of the weir plates 5 and 6 while the centrifuge drum is operating, and thus to match the said liquid level to changed product conditions. <IMAGE>
