The apparatus for separating and removing gas from a mixture of gas and liquid comprises a cylinder (1) having orifices (3, 4, 6) for the intake of the mixture and outlet of the gas and the liquid. The cylinder (1) is bottle-shaped, the orifices (3, 4) for the mixture intake and gas outlet being arranged in the bottom (2) and the orifice (6) for the liquid outlet being arranged at the neck (7). The orifice (3) for the mixture intake, to generate a primary flow (16) in the cylinder (1), is arranged tangentially to the cylinder wall (8) and the orifices (4, 6), opposite each other, for the gas and liquid outlet are arranged axially in the cylinder (1). The orifice (4) in the bottom (2) is furnished with a tube (9) which expands in a funnel shape towards the cylinder interior (10). The funnel opening (11) is furnished with a hydrophobic membrane (12). An axially orientated conical vortex limiter (13) is arranged in front of the orifice (6) in the neck (7) to generate an axial secondary flow (17) in the cylinder (1). <IMAGE>
