PURPOSE:To make a metallic fiber insertionally arrangeable in a sodium electrode without adding any internal pressure to a solid electrolytic tube as well as to prevent this solid electrolytic tube from being damaged by inserting a mat, where a joint between fibers themselves of the metallic fiber is joined, into the sodium electrode. CONSTITUTION:An interval between a protecting tube 5 and a solid electrolytic tube 2, there is provided with a mat 4 of a metallic fiber with sodium resistance so compactly. This mat 4 has the joining plane made up of having only a joint of respective fibers themselves is crushed at the specified pressure, and by means of the intermetallic diffusion limited to this joint, and it is one that has a hole ratio of 85-98%. This mat comes into contact with the solid electrolytic tube 2 by dint of spring back, and thereby wettability by sodium on a beta-alumina surface is securable. Simultaneously, since the specified hole ratio can be obtained by this mat, any internal pressure is in no case exerted on the solid electrolytic tube 2. With this constitution, damage to the solid electrolytic tube and its extension are preventable. |
