PURPOSE:To make an accurate correction of bends by detecting the amount of elastic strain of a horn at a time of flaring a pipe by a strain gage attached to the horn and obtaining the information of bends in real time. CONSTITUTION:The horn 2 is fitted to a supporting rest 1 fixed against the earth and a die head 3 for flaring the pipe is provided on the end of the horn 2. A steel pipe P is sent by an axial feeder 4 at each required length in an arrow direction and the flaring of the pipe and the correction of the bends can be carried out by the die head 3 for flaring the pipe at each step. In order to detect horizontal bends, strain gages R1, R2 are provided on both sides of the horn 2, preferably, in the horizontal direction. A bridge circuit is set up by these strain gages as resistances based on the 2 Active Gage Rule. The bends can be detected by this bridge circuit from a power epsilon based on the electric current from a power source E.
