PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous reading by directly displaying a length as a numerical value, by forming firs tand second conductors to a measuring strip along the longitudinal direction thereof and mounting probe brought into contact with both conductors to the interior of a case main body. CONSTITUTION:A measuring strip 1 is drawn out from a case main body 2 and the engaging part 8a of the engaging metal fitting 8 mounted to the leading end part of the measuring stip 1 is engaged with one end surface of an object 9 to be measured and the measuring attachment 16 of the main body 2 is brought into contact with the other end surface of the object 9 to be measuring. When the switch of an electronic circuit part 22 is turned on, the current flowing through the circuit starting from a rotary probe 18 to reach said probe 18 through the first conductor 13, the engaging metal fitting 8 and the second conductor 14 is inputted to a resistance measuring part. A resistance value is calculated in the resistance measuring part and the length corresponding to said resistance value is calculated to be digitally displayed.
