PURPOSE:To bring strip gaps to an optional size without edge cutting of a strip by installing a strip separator making a slit gap at a strip dividing end. CONSTITUTION:Strips 9 are alternately rewound from strip suppliers 18, 18' in the device inlet side; the strips 9 transferred by a deflector roller 2, pinch roller 3 or a deflector roller 2', 3' is divided in the width direction by a shearing device 5 consisting of two cutters 21, 21'. The divided strips 9 are guided to a tandem mill 10 consisting of plural rolls through deflector rollers 6, 8 and a strip separating roller 7 of a strip separator 27. Then, the strips 9 are rolled to have a prescribed thickness and are wound as coils 15, 15' on strip winders 19, 19' in the outlet side of the device.
