PURPOSE:To form the title deodorizing, decoloring, and water-absorbing body at a low cost by adding TABU (Machilus Thunbergii) powder, seaweed (Chondrus ocellatus) paste, and pyroligneous acid or activated carbon to fine bark powder, adding hot water to the mixture, kneading the mixture, then molding the caked mixture to an appropriate size, and drying the molded product. CONSTITUTION:When the deodorizing, decoloring, and water-absorbing bodies 11 are spread over a stool, night soil is deodorized and decolored, and all the water is absorbed. The body is capable of absorbing the water having a weight of three times its own weight. Since the bark powder is caked by a small amt. of the TABU powder of the same kind as the bark and seaweed paste and the bark is pulverized, the body 11 after absorbing water is easily decomposed in water and discharged, and hence any environmental pollution is not caused. When the bodies 11 are accumulated, an extremely high-quality compost can be obtained. The more the contained activated carbon and pyroligneous acid are dried, the more the deodorizing and decoloring effect is enhanced. Since the bark as the waste from the production of the wood chip for paper making is used as the raw material and the bark powder is caked by a small amt. of fine TABU particles, the cost is low.
