909,027. Honing rotary razor cutting elements. WHEELER, R. R. Aug.15, 1961 [Sept. 9, 1960], No. 29412/61. Class 60. A honing unit 14 for sharpening the cutting edges of the spoked cutting element of a rotary shaver, or the inner surface of the skin guard, comprises an elongated holder 16, Fig. 1, having means at one end, 18, for drivingly receiving the projecting end 12 of the shaving mechanism shaft and abrading means 20 at the other end which engages the cutting edges of the spoked element 24, or the inner surface of the skin guard 36, Fig. 3, when either of these elements is held fixedly in contact with the rotating abrading means. The spoked element 24 is held against rotation by a projection 30 on the bottom of a housing 28 into which the element is placed with the honing device 14 above it; the skin guard 36 is held manually against the abrasive element 20 whilst the holder 16, removed from the housing 28, is rotated by the razor drive shaft 12. The housing 28 has a magnifying glass or like cover 42, Fig. 7, whereby the sharpened element 24 may be inspected after removal of the honing unit 14. |
