PURPOSE:To prevent a temperature rise due to frictional heating, improve the quality of discharging chips and enable efficient machining by applying a vibration of frequency (f) and amplitude (a) to a workpiece in a machining direction, and carrying out a machining work in the condition wherein the feed speed F of a tool is so selected as to satisfy a relationship of F<aXf. CONSTITUTION:An axis-fitted grindstone 9 is used and turned in an arrow A direction. And when the grinding direction of the grindstone 9 is in an arrow B direction, an actuator in an X or Y direction operates to oscillate a vibration bed 1 and a workpiece 8 in an arrow C direction. And if the feed velocity of the grindstone 9 is taken at F, the amplitude (a) and the frequency (f) of the vibration bed 1 and the workpiece 8 are so selected as to satisfy a relation- ship of F<aXf. Then, a fine space is generated by (f) times between the grindstone 9 and the workpiece 8, and a cutting oil can be easily fed to the space between the grindstone 9 and the workpiece 8. It becomes possible, therefore, to prevent a temperature rise due to frictional heat at a machining point and discharge chips efficiently, thereby enabling the machining of the workpiece 8 with good machining efficiency. |
