PURPOSE:To enhance a manual operability of printer to enable an accurate printing, by a transfer method wherein, a plurality of heating elements are provided on a substrate end face of a thermal head, the head is disposed inclined against a surface vertical to a transfer paper surface, and a planar rubber sheet is disposed on the reverse of the transfer paper surface. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 1 having a plurality of heating element 2 arranged vertically to a paper surface on a substrate end surface thereof is pressed in a direction of an arrow 3 by a spring etc. A planar rubber sheet 6 disposed on the reverse of a transfer paper surface 5 has a board thickness of several millimeters, a rubber hardness of 70 deg.C or less, and a low-roughness contact surface with the transfer paper surface 5. The thermal head 1 abuts uniformly on the transfer paper surface 5 through a thermal transfer ink ribbon 4. At this time, the elastic deformation of the rubber sheet 6 at a part pressed by the thermal head 1 enhances adhesion in a printing part. On the other hand, the inclination of the thermal head by an angle 9 against a surface vertical to the transfer paper surface 5 makes the elastic deformation of the rubber sheet 9 smaller on the leading side and larger on the trailing side in a sub-scanning direction 7, thus preventing the corner parts of the thermal head 1 from pressing into the rubber sheet 6 to facilitate a manual traveling. |
