PURPOSE:To control the direction of a moving a wheelchair with quick response by providing a direction control circuit which outputs sequentially the control codes to control the moving direction of an external equipment (wheelchair) based on the phonemic features of the input voices of a speaker. CONSTITUTION:A direction control circuit 11 identifies the phonemes (vowels) uttered by a speaker for control of the direction right after utterance and outputs instantaneously the direction control code to an external equipment 9 (wheelchair) in response to those identified phonemes. Then the circuit 11 gives immediately a control code to the equipment 9 after detection of the end of said utterance to end the movement for direction control. For instance, a voice controller identifies the direction control words uttered by the speaker immediately after utterance and outputs immediately a control code 8 to the wheelchair 9 for control of the direction in response to the result of said identification together with another control code given immediately to the wheelchair 9 after the end of utterance to complete the movement for control of the direction. Thus the moving direction of the wheelchair 9 is carried out with extremely high response to the utterance of the direction control words.
